Live The Dream Media is Changing Local Media in 2025

Live The Dream Media was founded in January 2020 to help small businesses attract more customers by creating content like video commercials and publishing them in new digital spaces.

“At the time everybody was used to the old advertising spaces like putting their commercials on traditional tv and spending a lot of money. In the new way of doing things they don’t have to spend as much because the spaces are cheaper but you can work with the ads and target specific audiences,” said Co-Founder and CEO David Samorano.

Three months after Live The Dream Media was born, the COVID-19 pandemic hit. During that time, Live The Dream Media successfully helped small businesses set up contactless payment systems and build social media platforms to reach new clients while maintaining communication with existing customers.

On the side, Live The Dream Media was producing podcasts where people and business owners could share their stories. It wasn’t until two years later that podcasting at Live The Dream Media started taking off. Now, Live The Dream Media has become one of Southern Arizona’s fastest-growing live stream podcasting studios and networks.

“This has always been one of those side projects. It’s always been the part that we had to keep figuring out and building while still doing our core thing which is digital advertising,” said Samorano.

In this day and age, everyone is trying to do podcasting. The main thing separating successful podcasts from the not-so-successful ones is consistency. At the rate Live The Dream Media is going, it’s clearly successful. Live The Dream Media streams live podcasts on their YouTube, Facebook, X, and Instagram almost every day of the week. They average 25+ hours of live content every week. If you’re unable to catch the podcasts live, you can still listen on Spotify or other major platforms after they have aired.

You can watch or listen to these podcasts on the platforms previously mentioned, as well as on the new Live The Dream Media Online Radio App. The app launched in late October, and on it, you can listen to live music, read articles from The Cornerstone Republic, and access previous podcasts.

“It’s a free app. There is no cost to download it at all. There’s no membership fee or anything,” said Samorano.

In the new year, Live The Dream Media is looking to make a big impact and become the new place to be and the new place where people can listen and engage. 

“Different things are going to be on our platform now and people are going to be able to listen to them without any real boundaries,” said Samorano.

What separates Live The Dream Media from AM/FM radio stations is its freedom from FCC regulations; creators can use unrestricted language, and political candidates can appear on any Live The Dream Media show without restrictions.

“In a nutshell, it’s a big change, you’re going to see people leave other traditional mediums to come to our platform. It’s going to be exciting,” said Samorano.

“You don’t have to sign up for anything or chase a bunch of different web pages. Just look for us, you follow and then you’ll be in the know about everything coming out of our studio,” said Samorano.

WakeUp! Tucson Host Moving to Live The Dream Media

Marana, Arizona—Running for mayor of Oro Valley isn’t the only big move Christopher DeSimone is making this year.

DeSimone is moving his show to Live The Dream Media after working with KVOI for nearly 16 years. The Wake Up! Tucson host felt he had reached the full potential of what he could achieve with an AM radio show.

“Nowadays in 2025, there’s no capacity for a radio station to market content. It’s not just a part of the business model anymore,” said DeSimone.

At Live The Dream Media, a digital advertising and marketing business. DeSimone will be able to promote and grow the show the way he envisions.

“Now I have the freedom to build the show and to grow the show because now I’m working with a great company that knows how to promote the show. Whether it’s through not just online social media marketing but also streaming. I’ve never had that in fifteen years,” said DeSimone.

DeSimone won’t have to worry about FCC regulations at Live The Dream Media, which will give him more freedom during his campaign for mayor of Oro Valley later this year.

“When you’re on the FCC airwaves of radio, they make it very difficult for me and the owners of the station to do both and I never want to put my owners in a situation that was too much,” said DeSimone.

Not only does DeSimone want to grow his show, but he also wants to help Live The Dream Media grow.

“I love the idea of growing the Live The Dream Media company with the team, but in the end, for the show, it’s the idea that I finally am in a spot where the company I’m working for has the capacity and willingness to promote the show bigger than its ever been before,” said DeSimone

NBA Hall of Famer Makes His Way to Tucson

Tucson, Arizona—Julius Erving, also known as Dr. J, is coming to Tucson for a fireside chat with Bob Elliott.

Bob and Beverely Elliott sat down with Erving and his wife six months ago and came up with the idea of having him come to Tucson. Erving told them he wanted to help out the African American Museum of Southern Arizona (AAMoSA). 

“When we went to dinner with Julius and Dorys we were talking about the museum and he said he gets the newsletter and knowing that we needed to raise funds to be sustainable he said ‘What can I do to help?’. So we immediately were like okay let’s throw this out there and see where it goes,” said Beverely Elliott.

The idea for the museum sparked when Bob & Beverely’s grandson, Jody, who was doing a school report on an African American hero or ‘shero,’ at the time asked where the African American museum was in Arizona. At the time, there wasn’t one. After finding out there wasn’t a museum in Arizona, Jody suggested Elliott open one up. 

“He looks at me and says ‘Well I think you should start a museum and I’ll help you.’,” said Beverely Elliott.

On the 14th the museum will be celebrating two years of its opening.

Elliott met Erving in 1977 during the Philadelphia 76ers’ training camp. During training camp, the veterans would get their own rooms, and the rookies had to bunk up with each other. After the first week, cuts were made, and Elliott had a single room, which left some veterans frustrated.

“Some of the vets were like ‘No that is not going to happen. Put three of them little rascals in a room.’ Julius said ‘No, Bob can move in with me’ and that’s when it started and he’s been my big brother ever since,” said Bob Elliott.

One of the biggest takeaways Elliott learned while being teammates with Erving was despite being the icon ‘Dr. J,’ Erving stayed true to himself.

“I go into practice and learn pretty quickly in the rectangle he was Dr. J, once he left the rectangle he was just Julius. That was the biggest thing I learned about him,” said Bob Elliott.

The fireside chat with Erving will be held at Palo Verde High School on Thursday at 6 p.m.

“This is something we do not usually get in Tucson. Phoenix, different market, more people, etc. But for Julius to come here and share his life story with Tucsonans this is going to be a great event,” said Bob Elliott.

Ed Honea Helps Out Marana Community One Last Time

The last check from the late Mayor Ed Honea’s political campaign account is being donated to the Marana Food Bank & Community Resource Center.

Over the last few months of his life, Honea talked about helping the food bank in any way possible. One of those ways he helped out was by being part of the group that helped open it. Honea, Town Manager Terry Rozema, Councilwoman Patti Comerford, Councilman John Officer, Clint & Tami Peek, and a few people from the Sahuarita Food Bank sat down to discuss the future of the food bank when the idea emerged to have some of the people from Sahuarita’s food bank come and help run the Marana food bank.

“Part of the reason that happened was Tom Murphy, the mayor of Sahuarita and Ed were really good friends. So Ed reached out to Tom knowing they had a pretty successful food bank, we wanted to pick their brain and before you know it we hired Carlos (Valles) to be a co-director of both places and brought the board on and we opened the Marana Food Bank December of 2023” said Board Member Clint Peek.

Once Honea knew there would be money left over from his campaign account the only place he wanted it to go was the food bank.

“He wanted any money that was left over in his account to be donated to the Marana Food Bank. He was the one that brought us all together,” said Peek.

The check total was $12,851.26, which is enough to help purchase the property the food bank is sitting on.

“This nearly $13,000 gets us over the mark to purchase the property so that way we can continue Ed’s wish and legacy here in the Marana community for many, many, many, many more decades,” said Executive Director Carlos Valles.

The amount needed to purchase the property was $220,000. Fundraising to help purchase the property began in September last year. Honea’s donation has now secured the food bank’s future in the community.

This donation wouldn’t be possible without getting approval from Honea’s children, Tiffany & Whit Honea, who fully endorsed the decision to donate to the food bank, fulfilling their father’s wish.

“They knew that’s what their dad’s wishes were which was to donate that money to the food bank and without Ed spearheading that there would be no Marana Food Bank,” said Peek.

Lyn Thompson Named 2024 Local Marana Volunteer of the Year for Impeccable Work at Local Food Bank

Marana, Arizona- Lyn Thompson wins the 2024 Local Marana Volunteer of the Year.

Lyn Thompson has volunteered at the Marana Food Bank & Community Resource Center for a year. Over the past year Thompson has made many contributions and her practical know-how and tireless commitment have made her a critical part of the food bank’s success.

Thompson’s greatest contribution was creating a system for managing food donations. This straight forward yet effective approach ensures all donations are properly sorted, dated, and recorded, making donation processing more efficient for the food bank.

Thompson’s ability to train new volunteers is another outstanding quality. New volunteers find a patient teacher in her as she shows them the sorting system and helps build their confidence. Thompson even goes above and beyond by volunteering extra days to complete tasks and make sure everything is good to go.

“The warmth she brings to the food bank is just as notable as her work ethic.” Says Marana Food Bank Program Manager Luissel Palma. Thompson brings homemade treats for the staff and fellow volunteers. This giving spirit runs in the family as her husband Bruce Thompson has also been a long-time volunteer at the food bank.

Thompson proves that one person’s dedication can touch many lives through her work at the Marana Food Bank. Her ongoing service strengthens the food bank’s ability to support local families in need.

Marana Police Officers Association to Host Annual “Stuff the Cop Car” Toy Drive

Marana, Arizona – The Marana Police Officers Association is set to spread holiday cheer with their annual toy drive, inviting community members to help make the season brighter for local children. The “Stuff the Cop Car” event will take place on Saturday, December 14th, from 9 AM to 2 PM in the Walmart parking lot at 8280 N. Cortaro Road.

This heartwarming community initiative collects new, unwrapped toys and donations to support children and families in need throughout Marana and surrounding areas. Residents are encouraged to participate by bringing gifts suitable for children and teens. Police officers will be on-site to gratefully receive donations, which will be directly placed in police vehicles.

The event provides an opportunity for community members to make a meaningful difference in the lives of local youth who might otherwise go without gifts during the holiday season. By donating, residents can help bring joy and hope to children across Marana.

The Marana Police Officers Association extends its heartfelt thanks to the community for their continued support.

Marana Honors Late Mayor Ed Honea by Naming Municipal Complex in His Memory

Marana, Arizona- The Marana Municipal Complex will be named after the late Mayor of Marana Ed Honea.

Honea, a third-generation member of a five-generation family, served the city of Marana for 37 years. He was on the town council for three terms and has been mayor since 2005 after serving from 1995-1997.

Honea was a part of many boards and organizations. He was a member and 2014 Chair of the Pima Association of Governments and was a member and chair of the Regional Transportation Authority. 

Almost everything regarding the city of Marana Honea has had a say in it. He has offered his leadership by being a member of:

  • Arizona League of Cities and Towns 
  • Arizona Town Hall
  • Central Arizona Associations of Government
  • Arizona Association of Economic Development
  • Marana Optimist Club
  • Marana Chamber of Commerce

Honea played a prominent role in establishing the Marana Food Bank and advocated for the new Marana Aquatic and Recreation Center. Honea was also a huge part of Live the Dream Media where he has talked several times on its Local Marana podcast.

Live the Dream Media Helps Marana Food Bank Get Closer to Securing Its Future

Marana, Arizona- On 11/18/2024 Live the Dream Media donated $10,000 to the Marana Food Bank & Community Resource Center.

The property the food bank is standing on is currently up for sale and the food bank needs your help. 

The goal the food bank has is to raise $220,000 by the end of the month so they can secure their current location and continue to help out struggling families within the community.

The food bank challenges you, your friends and your family to not only donate but match each other’s donations. Each dollar donated will count as a challenge contribution, the best way to challenge them is by using “#MaranaChallenge” across different social media platforms to see who can contribute the most. 

Thanks to Live the Dream Media’s most recent donation, the food bank has now raised $120,565, leaving $99,435 to be raised by the end of the month’s deadline.

Arizona Rose Theatre’s upcoming production “Music & Comedy Tonight” comes to The Other Place (T.O.P.) on Nov. 8-10.

The production is about a group of small-town dreamers, hustlers and divas looking for their big break. Word gets out that a big-time producer from New York is coming to their show and the stakes are raised. Once the performers find out tensions rise with one another as they try to outshine each other. These antics lead to plenty of laughs and unlucky accidents for the performers.

“Music & Comedy Tonight” is the perfect combination of small-town workers having big-city dreams with a little bit of mayhem all to impress a New York producer in the hopes of making it big.
