If lobster rolls, empanadas, oooey gooey butter cake, and a Big Sexy burger sound like I’m speaking your love language, I hope to see you at the next Dove Mountain Food Truck Rally! This is the kind of event you fast all day for so you can load up on savory and sweet goodies that are best shared with family or friends. I brought my friend Kylie to this event for our Girl’s Night. Surveying the scene, we clinked our Slurpz cups as we perused the plethora of choices.
The food maze led us to the Kettle Corn Connection, where we sampled all types of gourmet popcorn, from churro flavored to jalapeño cheddar. Each bite popped to perfection. We wandered around with waffles on a stick from Why Not Breakfast before deciding on our appetizer; Frito Pie from Big Sexy’s Wangs and Thangs. (Seconds, please!) Then, it was time to cleanse our palettes, so we stopped by Dirty Dough for a bite of their stuffed chocolate chip cookies. (Believe the hype.) We wound our way back to Rockin Rollz Lobster and Sushi, where we indulged in lobster tacos for our entree.
The Dove Mountain Food Truck Rally is the brainchild of Marana resident Corinne Kuschel, who also owns Sweet Sensations ( ice cream truck). Prior to my food coma, I caught up with Corinne, who has been in business for six years. She says she understands how important it is for food truck operators to have the opportunity to showcase their delicious talents. This event provided food trucks like Big Sexy’s Wangs and Thangs their first opportunity to sell their mouth-watering munchies. Corrinne says her favorite part of the event is bringing the community together to share their craving for tasty eats.
Come check out this foodie phenomenon the second Friday of every month at 12100 N. Dove Mountain Blvd. (in the parking lot) from 5 PM to 8 PM. Bring your own table and chairs, or have a picnic in your car! Some of the event’s featured food trucks include but are not limited to:
