9 FREE Ways to Entertain/Educate Your Kids This Summer!

by

Marana, Arizona

If the phrases “I’m bored” or  “There’s nothing to do” are now your summer soundtrack, you’re not alone! Navigating the summer months as a parent can be challenging with the temps turned all the way up in Southern Arizona. In addition to combating boredom, you’re also trying to prevent sunburns, heatstroke, and dehydration. But perhaps the biggest challenge is the rising costs of summer camps, childcare, and activities, making it hard to stay financially afloat during the season that’s supposed to feel like vacation.

According to a new study conducted by Qualtrics on behalf of Intuit Credit Karma,

  • 61% of parents with children under 18 say it feels even more expensive to raise kids in the summer months
  • More than one-third (35%) of parents have to adjust their summer work hours to care for their children because the cost of childcare is too expensive.
  • 29% of parents are unable to save money during the summer due to childcare costs
