Spring Break Activities for every day of the week!

by

If you’re staying in town for Spring Break and you’re ruminating over “What will I do with the kids all week?” You’re not alone! It’s a topic that’s popping up all over Facebook groups like the weeds in my backyard. The good news is… We have you covered!

After playing tour guide to our Midwest family over the years, I have become an accidental expert on planning Spring Break in Southern Arizona and beyond—and I love it! In addition to our favorites, I’m going rogue this year by adding a scavenger hunt to the itinerary. We will divide into two teams and go on a wild javelina chase to find the saguaro with the most limbs and taste Eegees’ flavor of the month, among other escapades.

Check out the guide below, for an adventure to enjoy every day of the week!

Looking to save? Stop by the Wheeler Taft Abbett Sr. Library and check out a culture pass! The culture pass will grant you and your family FREE (yes, FREE) admission to some of our region’s hottest attractions. Please note passes are limited and are first come, first served.

Oasis Hikes – We may live in the desert, but there are plenty of hikes in Tucson that feature natural wading pools and waterfalls! Pack a lunch and make the field trip last all day. Here are a few kid-friendly hikes where the water is flowing!

  • Tanque Verde Falls
  • Sabino Canyon
  • Catalina State Park

Old Tucson—Step back in time and experience the Wild West on a movie set. Movies like Tombstone, A Star is Born (1976), Wild Wild West, Three Amigos, and many more were filmed here. Enjoy musical entertainment, stunt shows, rides, and more while learning about Tucson’s iconic history. Click here for more information.

Horseback Riding – Experience Marana on horseback and marvel at the stunning backdrop of the Tortolita’s! Plan an overnight adventure at a dude ranch, or book a daily ride for beginners. Some ranches make it a truly memorable experience by offering cookouts and sunset rides! Click here for more information.

Tucson Bike Tours – 11 out of 10 stars! Explore Tucson on two wheels and experience the city’s vibrant food, history, and art that make the Old Pueblo a sought-after destination for locals and tourists alike. Tucson Bike Tours offers three types of tours (see below). Click here for more information.

  • Historic Bike Tour
  • Mural Bike Tour
  • Taco Bike Tour

Desert Museum—You can learn so much about the wildlife in our backyard! Observe native animals like javelinas, otters, and bobcats as you wind through the scenic park. Look up to see birds of prey soaring overhead during raptor free flight. During your field trip, learn about reptiles, cacti, butterflies, and more. Click here for more information.

Pool Day – Plan a staycation or even a daycation at one of Tucson’s world-class resorts!

Enjoy stunning Sonoran views from the Ritz-Carlton Dove Mountain’s pool deck. Or JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort’s lazy river may be more your speed. Water slide, anyone? Head to the Westin La Paloma! Those are only a few of the pool days awaiting you!

Psst! You don’t have to spend a fortune to enjoy a luxurious pool day. Visit Resort Pass for exclusive Daycation Deals. Remember to click on the resort of your choice to see the special kids’ rates.

Those are just a few ideas to get you going. Please share your ideas in the comments so I can add them to my scavenger hunt!
